에피소드 #2. 가텔은 성에 침입하여 라푼젤을 납치하는데...

The magic of the golden flower, healed the queen.

그 '마법의 금빛 꽃'은 여왕님의 병을 치료했습니다.

A healthy baby girl, a princess was born.

그리고 아름다운 금발머리의 건강한

With beautiful golden hair.

아기 공주님이 태어났죠.

I'll give you a hint.

힌트를 드리죠.

That's Rapunzel.

이 아이가 라푼젤 이에요.

To celebrate her birth,

라푼젤의 탄생을 축하하기 위해

the King and Queen launched a flying lantern into the sky.

왕과 여왕님은 나는 등을 하늘로 날려 보냈습니다.

And for that one moment, everything was perfect.

그때까지 모든 것은 완벽했죠.

And then that moment ended.

그리고 그 행복한 순간은 끝이 났습니다.

*Flower, gleam and glow, let your powers shine*

꽃아 반짝반짝 빛나라, 너의 힘이 빛을 발하게 해.

*Make the clock re...*

시계를 거꾸로 돌려...

HUH!

헉!

Gothel broke into the castle

가텔은 성을 부수고 들어가

and stole the child, and just like that...gone.

아기를 훔쳐...가버렸습니다.

The Kingdom searched and searched,

왕국은 아기를 찾고 또 찾았지만

but they could not find the Princess.

공주를 찾아내지 못했습니다.

For deep within the forest In a hidden tower.

그러나 숲속 깊이 숨겨진 탑 안에

Gothel raised the child as her own.

가텔이 아기를 기르고 있었죠.

*...bring what has been lost,

내가 잃은 것을 돌려줘,

bring back what once was mine, what once was mine.*

한때 내 것이었던 것을, 내 것이었던 것을

Gothel had found her new magic flower.

가텔은 새로운 마법의 꽃을 발견 했던 거죠.

But this time she was determined to keep it hidden.

그러나 이번에는 꽃을 숨기기로 결정했습니다.

Why can't I go outside?

왜 나는 밖에 못나가죠?

The outside world is a dangerous place.

바깥세상은 무섭고 이기적인 사람들로

Filled with horrible, selfish people.

가득한 아주 위험한 곳 이란다.

You must stay here, where you're safe.

넌 여기 있는 게 안전하단다,

Do you understand, flower?

알겠니? 꽃님아.

Yes, Mommy.

알았어요, 엄마

But the walls of that tower, could not hide everything.

하지만 탑의 벽이 모든 것을 감춰주지는 못했죠.

Each year on her birthday,

매년 라푼젤의 생일 날,

the King and Queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky.

왕과 여왕은 수천 개의 등을하늘로 날렸습니다.

In hope that one day, their lost Princess, would return.

예전에 잃어버린 자신들의 공주가 돌아오길 바라면서요.

이 문장들은 꼭 기억하자!!

1. the King and Queen launched a flying lantern into the sky.

- launch A into B : A를 B로 쏘아올리다

2. Gothel raised the child as her own.

- as가 ~처럼이라고 쓰여서 '자신 것처럼 키웠다' 라고 해석됩니다.

3. Gothel had found her new magic flower.

4. this time she was determined to keep it hidden.

- be determined to ~하기로 결심을 하다

5. the King and Queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky.

- release A into B : release는 launch와 비슷한 뜻으로 쓰이지만 약간의 뉘앙스 차이가 있습니다. 하지만, 그 어감의 차이는 설명하기가 매우 애매하네요. ;;;

 굳이 차이를 말하자면, launch는 로켓따위를 발사한다는 느낌이라면, release는 자연스럽게 뭔가를 풀어준다는 느낌이라고 저는 생각합니다.
